New US health reform =1,990 pages and 19.6 pounds of paper
54Health care bill with a carbon footprint!
Talk about a carbon footprint! The cutting of trees, producing the paper, printing the 1,990-page bill and distributing it must be huge, Wonder what the cap tax would be? This new bill is too much to read, so you can hear it here: www.HearTheBill.org
I'm a strong supporter of a good national or universal health care system, but one that focuses on health, nutrition and education, real health and wellness issues, not big business, political connections and finances.
Unfortunately, that is not the health care system described in this bill that just passed. That bill describes a monopoly of sick-carethat forces people to buy into a disastrous system of commercial medicine and payments that will only keep them unhealthy and broke.
So I oppose it. I think we can do much better! Much better if we focus on health care and not health insurance!
We have to face the facts, the U.S. is no longer an industrial nation, one reason there are less jobs here. We have become a consumer nation, and what do we consume? Health services and goods! How many times has the administration mentioned the dollars spent here annually on health care?
I see this U.S. Health Care Reform as being all about the money, not the people! And that's okay, money is important too, but tell us like it is, stop marketing the general benefits of the bills in vague terms.
You like I might be wondering why you didn't get to vote on it, I DO! When it comes to federal legislation, our vote doesn't seem to count any more, didn't you know? We are dictated to by a small band of the Big business connected political elite.
Did you know that 237 members of Congress are millionaires? And seven of them have a net worth greater than $100 million. When lawmakers are rolling in that kind of cash, how can they possibly represent the interests of the People, in which 99% earn far less? (http://www.politico.com/news/storie...)
Big business really loves the current system, because they can simply bypass the People and lobby Congress to pass the laws that favor their own interests. Not Fair!
After all, if the United States is supposed to be a government of the People, by the People and for the People, then why not let the laws be directly voted on by the People?
